A current Michigan law, (Public Act 222 of 2001), identifies the process and requirements for filing a claim against a governmental entity that the claimant believes to be responsible for a sewer backup.
If you experience an overflow or back-up of a sewage disposal system or storm water system, you must file a written claim with the Fenton Township office within 45 days after the overflow or backup was discovered, (click here to obtain a copy of the Act 222 Claimant Form). Notice should be mailed to:

Failure to provide the required notice will prevent recovery of damages. Please contact Fenton Township immediately upon discovery of an overflow or backup.
